Terms.

Last updated 14 May 2026

By using Gesso or Studio you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens on your account. Choose a display name that isn't somebody else's. Don't share your credentials. If you think someone has gained access to your account, write to support.

What the platform is for

Gesso is for looking at art. Studio is for placing art into Gesso. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use both for those purposes. We may refuse service to any account that uses the platform for unrelated commercial activity, harassment, or the upload of work the user does not have the right to upload.

What artists agree to in Studio

When you upload a work to Studio, you confirm you are the rights holder or the curator authorised by the rights holder to display the work in Gesso. You grant Largesso a non-exclusive licence to show the work to Gesso viewers, alongside the attribution you supply. You can withdraw a work at any time; it is removed from Gesso within seven days.

What viewers can do with the work

Works displayed in Gesso are for personal viewing only. You may save works to your account; you may not download, redistribute, or use them commercially without permission from the rights holder. The artist's wall label (artist, title, year, source) travels with every work wherever it is shown.

Changes

We may update these terms. If we make material changes we will notify accounts at their registered email address at least thirty days before the changes take effect.
